It allows to keep a distance from the transceiver antenna to reduce radiation to the head. Also it improves the flexibility of the handset use.

The Control Box KP6240 is clipped onto the front of the vest worn by a soldier and allows easy access to control of the PRC-624. Because the transceiver PRC-624 is usually strapped onto the back of a Military solder, this makes it much easier to reach the controls for changing channels, volume, etc

The Control Box KP6240 is of a small and convenient size and easily portable with a weight of not more than 340 gm.

The Control Box KP6240 contains four different knobs::

1. Channel selector switch for 10 different channels.
2. Volume control.
3. On/off switch which also controls sensitivity of microphone
4. Side push-button to enable/disable squelch.

The Control Box KP6240 is fitted with two audio connectors, one on each side: One is for connection to the PRC-624 through a cable and the other is for connection to a handset or headset or military loudspeaker.
